Matthew Cartwright- Week 01, Homework

Hi! My name is Matthew Cartwright and I am getting my BFA in Illustration. The two biggest influences on my work right now are Sparth and Eytan Zana. I want to work in concept art for video games and movies, either as an environmental artist or prop designer. The top two companies I would like to work at would be Bungie and 343 Industries (Its not cheating, they are different!). I'd like to work for either of those companies because there games  that they produce are science-fiction lore filled worlds that are visually stunning and filled with awesome concepts. I hope that I improve in this class as much as a I did last semester.

Chelsea Jauregui-Week 01, Homework

Hello, my name is Chelsea and I am now an illustration major, after making the switch from the animation concentration this past May. Two of my most inspirational artists are Joey Chou, for his use of flat shapes and superb color selection, and J. Scott Campbell for his ability to stylize human faces while keeping the features believably realistic. The two studios that I would love to work at are Nickelodeon and Disney. During my internship at Nickelodeon this past fall, I experienced the friendly and warm environment at the studio, and I could tell that the company truly takes care of its employees and in my mind that set it apart from other studios. I would love to work for Disney TV or Disney Feature Animation because I love the devotion to beautiful story lines that that studio consistently demonstrates. I would like to enter the industry as a production assistant so I can gain a broader understanding of the different roles, and then transition into a position as a color stylist. I am looking forward to gain experience as a digital painter, and improve my drawing skills through observational drawings. It's going to be a challenge but I am ready to improve through this rigorous class!

Paul Barral- Week 01, Homework

Hello, my name is Paul Barral and I am an entertainment/animation major.
The two artists that have the most influence on my artwork are Glenn Keane and Rad Sechrist.
My top two companies I would want to work for are Disney TV and Cartoon Network as an action storyboard artist. In actuality, it is more about the projects and teams of people I would love to work with. For cartoon network, I would enjoy working on shows like Regular show for its outrageous humor and insane action sequences. For Disney, Gravity Falls would be my ideal team to work with because the show has an engaging world with a rich cast of characters that I love dearly.
During the course of this class, I want to develop a consistent workflow that suits me best. While i have been able to reach my destination in my digital paintings in the past, I always felt like my process was never consistent. My goal is to solidify my process that is unique to how I draw and paint my compositions.

Christine Le - Week 01, Homework

Hello everyone! I'm Christine and I am a writer and visual storyteller. More specifically I am an Animation/Entertainment Arts major with a minor in TV/Film Screenwriting at CalState Fullerton, but that is a long-winded title to tell people.  There are a ton of artists that influence my work, but the two that I most admire would probably have to be Chris Sanders and Pascal Campion. Not only for their artistic styles but for the amazing sense of storytelling in their work.

As for my career goals, I hope to eventually acquire a showrunner position for a major studio, so that I can combine my love of writing stories along with visually developing them. Ideal studio candidates include; Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, NBC, Disney, Netflix, or Frederator. In working towards that goal, I hope to find a place in the writers' room of a sitcom or comedy related series, animated or live action. Ideally, I would hope to work in the animation field as part of a writing/ development team, then work my way up to successfully pitching my own series. And following that, of course, celebrating with pizza.

I chose to sign up for this class because I want to further develop my skill in creating a world of characters and environments that become believable to an audience. I want to be able to take story concepts from my mind and be able to transfer them into a "physical" format that can convey the narratives I am trying to tell. On a more substantial level, I want to focus on developing my skill in composition, color, and lighting.

Robert Ramirez- Week 01, Homework

My name is Robert Ramirez and I am an animation major. The two biggest influences to my work would be Tim Burton and Clayton Crain. Tim Burton has been a huge inspiration to me since I was a small child with his dark yet charming themes to his films and artwork. Clayton Crain is my biggest inspiration in digital media because the forms and poses he gives to his characters allows them to be more dramatic and surreal. The top two studios I would like to work at would be Titmouse and Encirco Studios as a pencil/base animator. Titmouse is known for making 2D animated series that combine adult humor and brutal action sequences, and I am all about adult humor and violence. Encirco Studios is a place that I get hired to do a lot of freelance work in background painting, murals, character design, and 2D animation. In this class, I hope to have a better understanding of the tools and techniques used in photoshop to make realistic characters and backgrounds.

Ari Castleton- Week 01, Homework

My name is Ari Castleton and I am an Entertainment Arts/Animation concentration.
The two most inspiring artists that influence my work are Bill Watterson and Genndy Tartakovsky. The top two studios I want to work for are Pixar and Cartoon Network, working in the storyboard department. Pixar has always been a large influence in my art career and the way they tell a story is beyond compare. I want to be apart of that process and help develop the look and feel of those stories. Having seen some behind the scenes of Cartoon Network and storyboard samples from their current shows, I really enjoy their styles and sense of humor. Disney is another company I am interested in, especially some of their recent animated television shows. From this class, I want to develop a better sense of composition, color, and perspective. I do not have a lot of experience with background design and better understanding what makes a good background will ultimately better develop a story or project.

Philip Dimitriadis- Week 1, Homework

My name is Philip Dimitriadis and I must say..I hate self portraits!! I 'm a graduate student focusing on my MFA in Entertainment Art Illustration. I graduated from CSUF with an undergraduate degree and have worked professionally for 15 years, and was recently offered a full-time job heading up the Digital Art Program at Fullerton College.  I decided to return to school to focus on creating and strenthening a new portfolio for Visual Development. A couple of my favorite artists and inspirations include: Michael Spooner, Craig Mullins, Feng Zhu, and all of the American Illustrators. I want to focus on light and color while developing more story driven conceptual art. Outside of teaching full-time I have 4 months off to freelance on animation & entertainment productions.
